Chad Spanberger- Could be one of the first recruits to verbally commit from the Class of 2014. Spanberger recently verbally committed to the University of Arkansas. Spanberger joins St. Louis native and Vianney High School Prospect Matt Brown to sign for the Razorbacks.
Spanberger has been claimed as the cream of the crop in the state of Illinois. Starting as a true freshman Spanberger has played the past two seasons and has shown he can play at a high level no matter his youthful age.
Batting this past season of .314 at Granite City High School wasn’t the most impressive number, but none the less a number that joins 27 RBI’s on a season doesn’t look so bad.
Spanberger led the team in total bases with 54, that included 3 triples, 3 homeruns, and 7 doubles.
A two year starting catcher already at the high school level that brings a tall frame, that could easily turn into a third basemen’s frame down the road.
Spanberger will be a kid to keep an eye on in 2 years as he could be a high draft pick during the June draft in 2014.
