TCU product to be at SLUH for one more season.

Brian Howard is a 6’9 Senior this year SLUH High School near downtown St. Louis. Howard is committed to attend Texas Christian University in the Fall of 2013. Howard is someone to watch this coming spring as a potential Missouri player of the year.

Howard’s junior year he started 11 games and went he full distance in 6 of those 11. Howard had a total of 56 and 1/3 innings pitched in the spring of 2012. Howard had a strong outing every time on the mound with a season ending ERA of 2.36 and a whip near 1 at 1.14.

Howard recently was ranked #1 in the Missouri Rankings done by Prep Baseball Report for the top High School kids in the state of Missouri. Howard’s fastball will sit between 85 and 88 mph with a curveball between 64 and 67 mph.

Adding in Howard’s changeup that sits in the upper 70’s resulted in 67 K’s in 56.3 innings last year for Howard. Howard walked only 26 batters last season as batters were batting a sub .200 on the season at .184.

Howard’s tall frame and fastball that can still gain some velocity could be a key asset for the Horned Frogs next season if the MLB draft doesn’t claim Howard first.

Please return in the Spring to see how Howard fairs in his senior season.
