Luke Tendler is an unknown at North Carolina A & T

Luke Tendler is arguably one of the most passed over college infielders in the state of North Carolina and very well the entire United States. Tendler is a 5-foot 11-inch, 181-pound infielder who has hit for a batting average above .300 every year in college with the exception of his sophomore year summer league campaign where he hit .265.

Tendler batted .380 as a freshman at North Carolina A&T State. He had 20 doubles, five triples, and six homeruns while striking out only 15 times and walking 11 times. Tendler’s plate discipline as a freshman was already at the level of NCAA Division 1 baseball.

Tendler moved into his sophomore year at UNC A&T with a more powerful approach. The sleek infielder showed he can hit for power too by driving in 55 runs and hitting six homeruns.

Tendler bats from the left side with a line drive to all fields approach. He has a great inside-out swing that enables him to control the inside fastball with ease and a slightly open swing that closes into an athletic stance.

A smooth and elusive swing with consistency is a perfect summation of Tendler’s at bats.

Tendler batted .369 in the spring with 25 doubles and five homeruns.

Moving into his summer league, he continued to dominate the competition. He batted .351 this summer in the Coastal Plain League with eight homeruns and 40 RBIs in 174 at bats.

Only question remains for Tendler is his ability in the field and arm improvement. Once that evolves, he could put himself into contention to be drafted as a Senior Sign.

I grade out Tedler’s tools at the plate as such:

Hitting Grade: Present= 40 Future= 55

Hitting for Power: Present= 40 Future= 50

Running: Present= 55 Future= 50

I would like to see Tedler improve his infield, but at this point I think he can be expected to be selected on the third day of the draft with a chance to prove to everyone his draft prowess. I grade him out currently on little viewing and only see him at the plate as an overall OFP of 48.
